Number Four

Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff?

Part of my ever exciting and pertinent duties were to watch people mow the lawn inside the gate.  (Translation:  Inside the Gate means on Calgary Airport Authority land, and the only people allowed there are people who have gone through a security clearance and received a pass.  Which I did. Probably so I could watch people mow the grass).

One particular time though, the Lancaster was being showcased at SAIT and I think a museum and rich people could go up for rides.  Good timing abounded, and I was at a perfect position, not only to see it fly overhead, but to land.

Canadian History come alive, and that’s why it’s Number Four.

  1. Like looking down to make sure you’re in modern clothes, because the sound of those Merlin engines screaming while the Lanc somehow rumbles gracefully by really makes you feel transported back in time. AWE-some in the very sense of the word!
